Redwing celebrates a fully let Rent to Buy community at Sorrel Place

The regeneration of New Ferry has reached an exciting milestone, and for Redwing, it marks the beginning of a brand new chapter for local residents. As part of Phase One of the regeneration programme, Redwing is proud to have successfully let all 20 Rent to Buy homes at Sorrel Place in record time, reflecting the strong demand for affordable pathways into home ownership in the Wirral.

This achievement forms part of a wider £6.6 million regeneration programme delivered by The Regenda Group in partnership with Wirral Council, bringing high quality homes back into the heart of New Ferry. Through this work, the community is not only seeing new homes take shape but experiencing a renewed sense of optimism and identity.

Sorrel Place provides a contemporary presence on Boundary Road.   The Bebington Road site delivered through Regenda Homes echoes the Edwardian and Victorian character of the original shopfronts.

For Redwing customers, the Rent to Buy model provides a unique opportunity:

  • 20% reduced rent, helping households save for a deposit
  • A route into long-term homeownership
  • High-quality homes built to modern standards

The fact that every Rent to Buy apartment was reserved so quickly shows the huge appetite for secure, affordable home options in New Ferry, an area now experiencing significant renewal.

One of the most powerful elements of the New Ferry regeneration has been the involvement of the community, particularly the pupils of Grove Street Primary School, who have been part of the project from the very beginning.

The children at Grove Primary:

  • Helped name the apartment types
  • Inspired aspects of the branding, ensuring the development reflected New Ferry’s heritage
  • Performed carols at the community celebration event, marking the completion of Phase One

Redwing’s role alongside M&Y Maintenance & Construction and Regenda Homes represents a cohesive approach to regeneration. The result is a neighbourhood that retains its character while offering modern homes, greater choice, and new opportunities for r
esidents.

Residents were delighted with their new homes described as “not just grey apartments” but homes full of character.  “We’re over the moon to have found a home in a beautiful area whereour daughtercan play and explore safely. Were excited to make our lovely new apartment into our home!”

With all homes let and families now settling into their new apartments, Redwing is already looking ahead. Phase Two of the regeneration, will deliver 43 additional homes across Woodhead Street and New Chester Road.
