On Tuesday 4th July, Redwing’s Head of New Business, Jessica Turner, will be joined by a panel of experts from the property and finance sectors to discuss the future of the North West rental market. Hosted by Insider Media, the breakfast event will have a particular focus on single family build-to-rent (BTR) and how, over recent years, it’s been the key to unlocking the region’s housing market.
So, we sat down with Jess to find out more about how she started her career in property, and why she’s so passionate about her role at Redwing!
Tell us about your early career?
My career in housing began in 2014, my first role was in a traditional estate agency as a negotiator, following this I stepped into further training to become a valuer. Not only did this provide me with more knowledge and expertise to deliver to our customers, but I realised I loved learning more and more about property, which lead to my promotion to Branch Manager! In this role, I managed a team of 10 staff and I loved watching everyone grow and develop their skills, just like I had for the past 3 years.
In early 2018 I joined Redwing as a Sales Manager, although I was working in an estate agency previously, I knew Redwing wasn’t your typical high street agent. Redwing operate within the private property sector covering leasehold, commercial and PRS/BTR, but they do so much more than that! As part of The Regenda Group, Redwing reinvest their profits into improve livelihoods across the North West, from building more homes to providing education and training opportunities, and supporting charities including Petrus and Centre 56. I love knowing my day-to-day role in selling homes is part of something bigger, helping to regenerate our local areas and improve livelihoods.
Tell us about your current role at Redwing?
I’ve had numerous roles within Redwing operating across Sales and Lettings which has gave giving me a huge amount of experience and has ultimately led to my current role as Redwing’s Head of New Business. My role at Redwing is to create partnerships with organisations who want to grow their business, from developers, to landlords, housing associations and councils. It’s my job to work collaboratively with these organisations and demonstrate how Redwing can provide services on their behalf to generate excellent results – and I would know, after five years, I’ve been seen it for myself!
What does your average day at work look like?
On an average day you could find me completing assessments, such as identifying the best land to build new properties, writing reports to recommend the best tenure type for developments, or meeting with new clients in person or over Teams all about on how Redwing can help them to achieve their business goals. That’s the part of my job that I love most - meeting new people!
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is that I’m there from the initial stages of helping an organisation to grow, whether it be the whole journey or a chapter of the story – it’s amazing to know I’ve been a part of some of the brilliant regeneration projects and provide more affordable homes across the North West.
