Meet Liv, Redwing's Property Management and Sales Apprentice.

What motivated you to apply for an apprenticeship?

Before I started my apprenticeship at Redwing, I was a student in college. From the start I knew that going to university wasn’t for me, but I knew I wanted a career in property. To me with property there is always something new every day, it’s a job you could never get bored of. I first seen the apprenticeship that Redwing were offering, and the description was everything I was looking for. I immediately went for it and applied, and I am so glad I did!

What is your role and key responsibilities?

In my position as a property management and sales apprentice, I work alongside the property managers and the sales and lettings team, to help customers find the home of their dreams, through the sales process and helping them with any issues they have through property management.

Day to day I help with booking viewings in, I help with certain parts of the sales process, for example putting together tenancy agreements for the new move ins and completing memorandum of sales to progress to the move in.

Are there any studies involved as an apprentice?

The best thing about an apprenticeship is its all learning on the job. I have found myself to be much better a practical learning than sitting exams and sitting in lessons, this is how I know I have chosen the right place for me. I attend a monthly workshop which we do at home, here we learn the importance of customer satisfaction and the ways of social housing, we get set little task afterwards which gets added onto our apprenticeship progress.

What is the best thing about working at Redwing?

When I first started, I had no experience with working in an office and I had no experience with selling properties or managing them. But as early as my first day I was instantly welcomed and made to feel part of the team. It really does feel like a team that work together and communicate no matter the problem. Everyone was so helpful with getting me up to speed on new developments we have coming in with guiding me in the right directions when needed and overall supporting me with my journey at Redwing. However, one of the best things about working at Redwing is definitely the people, they have made we feel that I have made the right choice with my career path in property.

What challenges have you faced?

A Challenge for me was having no experience in housing and how sales and lettings work or how property management works. But through time I was helped immensely by the team, they set training meetings and sat with me making sure I know what to do and the team really took time out of their day to teach me. This helped me settle in smoothly within the company. However, my confidence has grew so much since starting redwing as there are lots of opportunities to talk with everyone and speak to customers, this was really helpful!

What is the best piece of advice you can give about learning and development?

Never be afraid to try something new, even if it means going out of your comfort zone!

What are your dreams and aspirations for the future?

My next step would be to progress on my knowledge on the housing sector and gain more insight on how the process works. I hopefully them would love to develop properties, renovate them, build, and create my own business.
